Obituary of Harvey Pittman

William Pittman was born on November 25, 1944 and Harvey Pittman was born on June 8, 1945 to Rosetta Lewis and Leroy Pittman. William entered into eternal life on May 26, 2020 at the Veteran Nursing Home in Lyons, NJ. Harvey Pittman passed a month earlier on April 4, 2020 at Andover Nursing Home in Andover, NJ.
William and Harvey grew up in Marion, South Carolina. They were raised with their sisters Marie, Reather, Jennie and Kattie in a close-knit Christian family. They all were members of The Jerusalem Baptist Church.
In 1965, William and Harvey relocated to Paterson NJ, where they lived with their mother Rosetta Pittman.
Harvey Pittman graduated from Marion High School in 1965. He was a very handy man and was extremely personable. He worked as a machine operator in Fairlawn, NJ and as a taxi driver in Paterson, NJ.
William attended Marion Highschool and graduated in 1964. He majored in science and took classes at Montclair State College. In 1965, William enlisted in the United States Army. He fought for our country as a combat specialist in the Vietnam War and obtained a Vietnam campaign and service metal. After returning home from war, he continued employment in the Army working as a utility worker. He was passionate about his service in the Army and even taught a class at West Point. William reached his highest rank, Sergeant First Class, before being honorably discharged from the Army on April 12, 1992.
After his time in the Army, William purchased a home in Clifton, NJ and resided there for 22 years. He worked at Globe Products and IBI Security in Clifton he also worked as a State Trooper in New Jersey. Some of his hobbies included playing chess, swimming, reading, and riding his motorcycle. In 2018, his quality of life weakened and relocated to Paterson NJ, where he lived with his nephew Ricky Pittman and family, as his illness took a toll on him then his final residence was Lyons Campus VA Nursing Home in Lyons,NJ.
William and Harvey Pittman leave behind their sister, Kattie Pittman; nieces Jenifer Free, Arnetta Moody, Madeline Robinson, Cheryl “Pittman Irvine, Rose Thompson & Diane Pittman; nephews,Jerry, Sylvester, Wallace Mouzone, Anthony, Randy, Ricky, Michael Pittman. William and Harvey always have given us wisdom and encouragement. They will truly be missed.
