Albertha Patricia Hunter was born on January 17, 1943 in Bronx, NY to the union of Victoria and James Dawson. She received her degree in Business Administration at Essex County College and worked with the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense until she retired.
She married James Alvin Hunter and to their union they were blessed with 5 sons (James, John, Oshea, Lovell, and Ithiel) and 5 daughters (Chrystala, Praiselle, Dawne, Lydia, and Stephanie). Albertha had a passion for shopping, cooking, singing, and traveling. The greatest joy of her life was spending time with her family. She confessed her life to Jesus Christ at a young age. Albertha was a member of Bethel Love and Praise in Bloomfield, New Jersey. She began her own business called Grandma Hands which was instrumental in feeding the homeless, gathering school supplies for families in need and providing spiritual counseling and ministering to nursing homes. Albertha Hunter had a zest for life and a great big heart. She loved God’s word and ministered and shone her light wherever she went. Her faith held strong and unfaltering no matter the circumstances. She was a prayer warrior and a humble woman of God. Albertha Hunter departed this world on Friday, April 17, 2020.
She was preceded in death by James Dawson (father), Victoria Dawson (mother), Craig Carter (brother) and James Dawson (brother).
She leaves behind to cherish memories, James Hunter Jr (Natascha), Chrystala L’Herisson (Dinkins), Praiselle Davis (John), Dawne Blackeney-Crawford, John Hunter, Stephanie Hunter, Lydia Hunter, Oshea Hunter, Lovell Hunter (Kaydian), Ithiel Hunter, two children she raised as her own (Chris Turpin- Spinks and George Turpin),her sister Gwendolyn Johnson, nieces, nephews, 27 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, cousins and friends. Albertha Hunter, our angel, you will truly be missed.
