Obituary of Mozell G. Baskerville

Mozell G. Baskerville was born on February 4,1952 to Robert and Rose Baskerville in Boydton, Virginia. She departed this life on March 21, 2020.
Mozell was raised in Boydton, Virginia, where she was a member of Bibleway Church. She attended the Virginia public school system for elementary, middle and junior high school.
In 1968, she moved to Newark, New Jersey. She had her oldest daughter, Chiniha Baskerville, and as a single mom, obtained her diploma from Barringer High School. After graduating high school, she started working at Prudential Insurance as a mail room clerk and was quickly promoted to Mail Clerk Supervisor.
While working at Prudential, she met her former husband, John Barron, Jr. and they were married in 1976. In 1978, they had their son, John Barron, III, and then their daughter Chmere Barron in 1979 at which time she left Prudential to become a full time mother and wife.
Mozell was a resident of Irvington, New Jersey for 38 years. She was an active member in the Irvington schools Parent Teacher Association as well as the Irvington Block Association. She was well known to Irvington’s Council members, and was a great asset to the North Ward. She made sure everyone voted during every city, state and presidential elections.
Mozell was known to the neighborhood as Mommy Mo. She was loving, funny, caring as well as a no-nonsense woman. She had a story for every situation and everyone went to her for her opinion and guidance. She loved her family and was very proud of her children and grandchildren.
Mozell is now reunited with her brother, Clinnie Baskerville, Sr. and her oldest granddaughter, Nikkiah Baskerville.
Mozell Baskerville is survived by her mother, Rose; her children Chiniha, John and Chmere; her sister Linda; her brother, George; her aunt, Ruth Richardson; her uncle John Goode; her grandchildren, Sade, Ahmad, Brianna and Freddy; her great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Jazmire, Tahji, Jaeden, Kalia and ChyNia and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed.
