Obituary of Elizabeth Roseborough Quick
Elizabeth Roseborough Quick was born February 15, 1924 to the late James Edward Roseborough Sr. and the late Elizabeth Williams Roseborough in Leakesville, North Carolina. Elizabeth is known to many as Ms. Bet, Aunt Bet, Mother Quick or grandma, she’s the only living sibling of four brothers and one sister.
Elizabeth graduated from Gibson elementary school, Gibson, NC; Laurinburg Institute, Laurinburg, NC and Richmond Community College, Rockingham, NC where she received a certificate in Nutrition.
Elizabeth was married to the late David Quick and to this union two children were born, Nettie Elizabeth Quick and Brenda Quick Pearson. On January 2, 1988 Elizabeth was blessed with her first and only grandson Derek David Quick Pearson.
Elizabeth’s parents were very active members in the Green Lake AMWE Zion Church in Gibson, NC where Elizabeth attended Sunday school and sang in the Junior Choir. Elizabeth served on the Trustee Board, Stewardess Board, Deaconesses, Senior Choir, Usher, Missionary Society and Secretary for General Claims. She and her late husband cleaned and did everything they could for their church. Their home was the place to go for a healthy meal, a hug, a prayer and encouragement to read the Bible daily.
She believes that relocating to Paterson, NJ and becoming a member of First AME Zion Church was the greatest blessing of her religious life. The gifted teaching every Sunday and the warm welcome she receives Sunday after Sunday has added to her life.
Her hobbies were bowling, knitting, crocheting and crossword the puzzles.
Elizabeth has been a mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, cousin and grandmother to many, but most of all she has and will always be a true friend to all who count on her. She loved her family and others unconditionally.
Advice for others: “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. “2 Corinthians 9;6-8
