Obituary of Mary Anna Green

Mary Anna Green was born on December 1, 1928 to Anna Byrd (King) and Bud Green in Princeton, WV. She underwent spiritual transformation on September 6, 2018, returning to our heavenly Creator. She has a surviving sister, Pauline Elizabeth Green (Vernon Bright) and seven siblings who preceded her in glory, Walter King (Hellen), Bud, Jr. (Agnes), John Robert (Mary Pulliam), George (Teresa), Howard (Jesse), Edna Viola, and Alverta (Oliver Curtis).
In elementary school, she met Robert H. Peak, Jr. They shot marbles, played games but no three card molly (smile). As some teenagers do they became sweet on one another and began to date. They fell head over heels in love. They danced the lindy, the elephant, the black bottom and other age appropriate dances. She completed tenth grade at the top of her class and she never had to take final exams. She gave her life to Christ and got married. Her extended family grew to include: Blanche Elizabeth Gore Peak, Robert H.V. Peak, Sr., Eugene (Eldura) of WV, Vivian (Jose Canty) of OH, Jasper (Margaret) of OH, Iona (Dr. Herriford) of DE and Silvia (Willie Louis) of NJ.
Because of a negative job market, Mary and Robert migrated to New Jersey. Upon the home going of her mother, her seven siblings and father relocated to Newark, NJ. From their blessed union, thirteen children were born, five of whom preceded her in the glory and they are: Robert H. Peak III (Grace C.) of NJ, Paul E. Peak, Sr. (Elizabeth Rice-Peak) of FL, David Charles Peak, Sr. (Ida Cooper-Peak) of NJ, Bud Peak of WV and Hope Anna of NJ. She is survived by eight children, Robin B. Peak-Ricks (William) of NJ, Vanessa Mary (the former Leamon Summers) of NJ,William, Sr. (Robbin) of OH, Evangelist Kimberly (Deacon Leon Overton) of NC, Emanuel E., Sr. (Yvette) of NJ, Donald M., Sr. (Karen), Richard C., Sr. (Lena Coakle-Peak) of NJ and Mr. John Antonio Peak; two goddaughters, Anna Green Amos of NJ and Elder, Ruth Carolyn Peak of DE.
Throughout life experiences, Mary stayed with her commitment to God. She was a member of the First
Zion Hill Baptist Church for many years. As a sanctified servant of the Creator she became a member of a local church ministered by a young reverend by the name of Rev. Dr. T.H. Rankin, Jr. in the early 1970’s. After many years, Mary became the Mother of Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church; Mary exemplified her role as mother of our church. We are and continue to be grateful for Rev.
Dr. T.H. Rankin, Jr., our first lady, Joann and the rest of the Rankin family.
As she grew in God’s spiritedness, she remained a faithful member of Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church. She worked diligently to teach others the ultimate goal means of going home. The links between the Rankin, Peak, Overton and Ricks families has been solidified by God.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children; grandchildren; greatgrandchildren; a sister; a goddaughter; nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.
