Obituary of John Burwell
John Burwell was born in Chase City, VA, on June 8, 1945. He was raised by his father, the late Joseph Thomas Burwell. He departed this life on Friday, February 10, 2018, at home.
John was home schooled by his aunt, Neva Burwell, until the 10th grade; his assistance was needed on the family farm. He was employed by Carteret Savings and Loan Bank in South Orange, NJ, for 21 years; until, his retirement as a Maintenance Supervisor.
John loved fishing, hunting and gardening; he could just about make or repair anything with his hands. John took great pride in the landscaping of his home and wellbeing of the community.
John loved his wife, Brenda, for 46 years, until her passing in 2014.
John leaves to cherish his loving memory, his children, Patricia Funderburg (Roger) and Corey Burwell Sr. (Ophelia); grandchildren, Matthew, Aniya and Cory Jr., and a host of other relatives and friends.
