Obituary of Pamela H. Reynolds
Pamela, the 4th child of Alfred and Esme Chesney, was born on the 27th of November 1933 in Kolkota, India.
Pamela accepted Christ and was baptised on the 23rd of December that same year. She was a beacon of light and hope from the day she was born.
She attended Loretto Convent School in Kolkata, West Bengal. She excelled in her subjects and graduated at 18 years old.
However, opportunities were limited in post-partitioned India. So she took a brave step and left her home and family, along with her sister Cynthia Chesney for London, England It was 1954 and she was only 21 years old.
Upon her arrival in London, England, she met her future sister-in-law, and great friend, Cynthia Reynolds. With the help of Cynthia, Pamela attended Nursing School. She was well suited to nursing because of her caring, thoughtful nature. She loved helping people, so becoming a nurse was a natural fit for her.
She promptly met the love of her life and future husband, Courtland Reynolds. Courland and Pamela married in 1954, and between 1955 and 1967 they had 5 beautiful sons - Michael, William (Billy), Eugene, Nigel and Gary.
Courtland worked hard and they immediately bought a house in Fulham, London. However, the cold English weather was not conducive to her health. So after 5 years Pamela, Courtland and their boys moved from the ghastly cold of England to the stunning sun of St Elizabeth, Jamaica, where they stayed for 20 years. She took care of their home and their sons while Courtland farmed.
However, the political climate changed in Jamaica and they decided to move to New Jersey USA. It is here that she spent 44 years of her life. She worked as a nurse again and took joy in helping others. She was an astonishing person, radiating love and kindness every day of her wonderful life.
Pamela Hannah Reynolds passed away, peacefully, on the 27th of January 2024. She was 90 years old. She leaves her 5 sons - Michael, William, Eugene, Nigel, and Gary; her grandchildren - Natalie, Rohan, Nigel, Jr., Cortland, Gary Jr., Corey, Menelik, Neela, Pamela, Avaeyah; Great-grandchildren - Gurshan and Kiran; her siblings - Dorina and Peter; and her extended family and friends.
